Nothing is uploaded. Files stay in this tab and are cleared when you leave.

Keep animation in a PNG-based file

APNG stores animation frames in a PNG container. This conversion keeps the GIF’s displayed frames, timing and loop meaning. It cannot restore colors or partially transparent edges that the original GIF never contained.

Check playback support before replacing a GIF

Some viewers show only a still image from an APNG file. Test the downloaded animation in the destination application. APNG is not guaranteed to be smaller than GIF; use the format because the destination supports it, not as a universal compression trick.

A few useful details

Will APNG restore colors missing from my GIF?+

No. The conversion starts with the GIF's existing frames. It cannot restore colors or soft transparency that the source never had.

Why does the APNG appear as a still image?+

Some viewers do not play APNG. Open it in a compatible browser and check support in the destination app before replacing the GIF.

Will my image keep its quality?+

GIF: up to 10 MB, 120 frames and 16 million pixels across all frames. No frames are dropped.

Are my files uploaded?+

Non-AI tools process files locally in your browser without uploading them or requiring an account. AI tools use remote processing and are clearly labeled. Files are uploaded only after you explicitly confirm; local tools never switch to cloud processing automatically.
